Silfra, the first collaboration between Hilary Hahn and Hauschka, will be released in May 2012 by Deutsche Grammophon.
Silfra is the culmination of a two-year exploratory improvisation project by Grammy Award-winning American violinist Hilary Hahn and prepared-piano master and innovator Volker Bertelmann (Hauschka). The music on this ambitious and free-spirited collection is a tribute to the Silfra rift in Iceland, an otherworldly landscape that inspired the two musicians to create a body of work that is evocative, hypnotic and truly breathtaking.
